First look at “Where The Wild Things Are” in action!

411px-wherethewildthingsare“And now!” cried Max, “Let the wild rumpus start!”

Finally, after much controversy and rumors of possible reshooting and artistic meddling, the public has gotten its first view of Spike Jonze’s cinematic rendering of the classic children’s book, “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak.

And wow, does it look amazing!

Right now, the trailer is exclusively on Apple’s movie trailer site.  I recommend a viewing immediately.  If the trailer is any indication of the full movie, it looks to be an incredibly creative and genuine film, a fitting tribute to the absolutely classic children’s story.  I applaud the playful look of the wild things and the exploration of the themes of hope, fear and adventure.  In addition, I think the choice of the Arcade Fire’s “Wake Up” was a perfect fit for the music.  Here are some of the stunning screen grabs:

The film is set to be released on October 16th, 2009.

“And they roared their terrible roars!

And gnashed their terrible teeth!

And rolled their terrible eyes!

And showed their terrible claws!”
